Normal Donkey Serum (NDS) is the blocking reagent of choice for multiplex IHC and IF panels that combine secondary antibodies from multiple species. Donkeys are phylogenetically distant from mouse, rat, rabbit, goat, and sheep — NDS does not cross-react with any of these species. When an IHC panel uses anti-rabbit and anti-goat secondary antibodies simultaneously, neither rabbit nor goat serum can be used as blocker. NDS is the only correct solution. EU origin, sterile filtered 0.2 µm.

When a panel uses secondaries from multiple species (e.g. anti-rabbit + anti-goat), neither rabbit nor goat serum can be used as blocker without interfering with the opposite primary. Donkey serum is immunologically neutral toward both species — a single blocking step covers the entire panel.
NDS is not suitable when donkey secondary antibodies are used in the panel. Also, if the primary antibody is donkey-derived, a different neutral serum must be used.
